Lloyds Bank Confirms All 190 Halifax Branches to Stay Open Despite Brand Removal
Lloyds Confirms All 190 Halifax Branches to Stay Open

Lloyds Bank has confirmed that all 190 Halifax-branded branches will stay open even as the brand is phased out. The group, which operates 531 branches overall, will begin removing signage at Halifax sites from early 2027, but no branches will close as a result of the changeover.

Customer Assurance and Transition Details

Lloyds stated: “There’s nothing Halifax customers need to do today. Over the coming days and weeks, we will start to contact customers directly through trusted channels, including the Halifax app, online banking, email and by letter.” Account numbers and sort codes will remain unchanged, and Financial Services Compensation Scheme protection will stay the same.

Customers’ money remains safe and exactly where it is. Lloyds emphasized: “We will never ask customers to move money, transfer funds or share security details as part of this change. If anyone contacts a customer asking them to do this, it is a scam.”

Service Continuity and App Integration

Customers will continue to receive the same service from the same branch and call centre colleagues. The Lloyds app is identical to the Halifax app but with added features. In the coming weeks, Halifax customers will be invited to move to the Lloyds app and online banking. Once they do, they will have access to Lloyds products for renewals, upgrades, or downgrades without changing their sort code or account number.

Mortgage and Intermediary Changes

Halifax mortgages will remain available through intermediaries until 2027, when Halifax Intermediaries will rebrand to Lloyds Intermediaries. The announcement comes ahead of Lloyds chief executive Charlie Nunn’s strategic plan release alongside half-year results at the end of July.
