Nationwide Updates on Five-Day Rule for Account Changes

Nationwide Building Society has issued an update clarifying the timeframe for new account changes to appear in its mobile app. A customer inquired about the delay in seeing their newly opened FlexAccount alongside their existing savings account in the iOS app, expressing surprise that the process was not quicker in the digital age.

In response, Nationwide explained that new accounts can take up to five working days to appear online. If the account does not show after this period, customers are advised to call 03457 302011 or visit a local branch with identification for further assistance. The customer later confirmed that the account appeared the following day.

Fairer Share Payment Update for 2026

Nationwide also provided an update on the £100 Fairer Share Payment Scheme for 2026. The mutual has paid the bonus in recent years, but the decision for 2026 depends on financial performance. A spokesperson stated that the board will decide after the financial year end, with eligibility criteria to be agreed then. The announcement will be part of the full-year results in May.

Finance expert Rachel Springall of Moneyfactscompare.co.uk noted that Nationwide has consistently offered the Fairer Share payment for three years and hopes to continue, but it hinges on performance. She advised members to check eligibility terms. She also mentioned that switching offers, such as a previous £200 incentive, may reappear, urging consumers to monitor comparison sites for competitive deals.
