Two men have been taken into custody following a police foot chase in Selly Oak, Birmingham. The arrests occurred yesterday (25 April) when West Midlands Police officers on patrol in the Weoley Avenue area observed a man fleeing from a vehicle.
Foot Chase and Recovery of Stolen Items
After a brief pursuit on foot, officers detained the suspect. Nearby, they recovered several stolen items along with two screwdrivers. Subsequent searches at a linked address led to the discovery of a second man hiding under a bed.
Skybridge Investigation
The second man was detained as part of an ongoing Skybridge investigation, which has involved extensive CCTV analysis and evidence collection. Skybridge is a Birmingham-based proactive crime-fighting team that targets offences such as theft, burglary, robbery, and vehicle crime.
This morning, both men—aged 43 and 39—remain in custody. They have been arrested on suspicion of taking from a motor vehicle, fraud, and vehicle interference.
