Reform UK has caused a political earthquake in Tamworth, with voters sending a clear message about who they want to control their council. Nigel Farage's party took all nine seats being contested in the Staffordshire borough, resulting in Labour losing control of Tamworth Borough Council.
Reform UK's Landslide Victory
It was a great night for Reform UK. The scale of support for the party was striking. In many seats, candidates took over 50% of the vote, securing convincing victories. Reform UK leaders said it was a clear sign voters had turned to their party in huge numbers.
However, it's not enough to put Reform in charge, as only a third of seats were up for grabs. But it now makes them a serious player in the borough with 10 seats, four behind Labour. The council is now in a state of no overall control, and discussions will have to be had about the way forward.
The Conservatives, once the dominant force here, have been reduced to just three seats.
