Public appeals and investigation update
In a statement, the force said: "Over the past few days, we have received in excess of 120 reports of information into our Major Incident Public Portal. We thank those who have reported their information to us and ask anyone who has not yet submitted relevant information to us, to do so as a priority."
The investigation has "continued to develop over the past 24 hours," according to police. They added: "At this time, there is still no information to suggest that this is a terrorism related incident. And at this point we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the murder."
Motive remains unclear
Police stated they retain primacy of the investigation and remain open-minded about any potential motive, but there is nothing to suggest it was politically motivated. A cordon remains in place at the scene, and a heightened police presence will continue in the local community for reassurance.
The force urged the public not to engage with online speculation, calling it "unhelpful and distressing" to friends and family and potentially harmful to the investigation. They thanked local communities, the wider public, and media for their support and patience.
Anyone with relevant information, images, or footage can report via the Major Incident Public Portal or anonymously to Crimestoppers.
