A Birmingham drug dealer has been jailed for more than five years after police uncovered a stash of heroin, crack cocaine and cannabis worth thousands of pounds.
Details of the arrest
Officers from West Midlands Police raided a property in the Handsworth area of Birmingham on 15 March 2023. They discovered a significant quantity of Class A and Class B drugs, including heroin, crack cocaine and cannabis. The drugs had a street value of approximately £10,000.
The suspect, 27-year-old Mohammed Hussain, was arrested at the scene. He was later charged with possession with intent to supply heroin, possession with intent to supply crack cocaine, and possession with intent to supply cannabis.
Court proceedings
Hussain appeared at Birmingham Crown Court on 12 May 2023, where he pleaded guilty to all three charges. On 9 June 2023, he was sentenced to five years and four months in prison.
Detective Constable James Smith, from West Midlands Police, said: “This was a significant seizure of drugs that would have caused harm in our communities. Hussain was clearly involved in the supply of illegal substances, and this sentence reflects the seriousness of his crimes.”
Impact on the community
West Midlands Police have reiterated their commitment to tackling drug-related crime in Birmingham. The force has urged members of the public to report any suspicious activity to help remove drugs from the streets.
The case is part of a wider crackdown on drug dealing in the region, with police carrying out regular patrols and intelligence-led operations.
