The final weekend of the Regional Championships at Wavertree saw City of Liverpool top the overall medal table with an impressive 115 medals, including 47 golds and 35 silvers. The standout performer was Thomas Rickels, who claimed five gold medals, notably achieving a personal best in the 100m Backstroke. James Graham also impressed, securing two golds and four silvers, all in personal best times, while Ethan Kelly added three golds and a bronze to his collection during a successful championship.
Outstanding Performances
George Pearce posted two personal bests as he earned three golds and a bronze. Dominic Workman took gold in the 400m Freestyle and a bronze in the 400m Individual Medley with a personal best. Finlay Byrne continued his fine form with two silvers and two bronze medals. Mia Robinson claimed silver in both the 400m Individual Medley and 200m Breaststroke, while Sophia Davies earned silver in the 200m Freestyle and bronze in the 100m Freestyle.
Madison Rens secured well-deserved bronze medals in the 200m and 400m Individual Medley with personal bests. Personal bests also saw Sophie Dowding collect silver in the 200m Freestyle, Zachary Patino bronze in the 400m Freestyle, and Dylan Gregory bronze in the 100m Backstroke.
Wirral Metro and Other Clubs
Abbie Roscoe was a key figure for Wirral Metro, picking up two golds and a silver. Lily Horton achieved two golds and a bronze with three personal bests, while Lauren Berry and Vivien Wilkinson both finished the weekend with a gold, a silver, and a bronze. Ava Halliwell, Ben Stephenson, and Petra Varga also reached the medals, as did Bethan James, who took bronze in the 200m Butterfly.
Halton and Bebington Success
Jacob Agate had a busy weekend leading the Halton team, setting four personal bests, including one in the final of the 200m Butterfly. Freya Karaski posted personal bests in the 100m and 200m Freestyle and the 100m Butterfly, with Bella-Mai Fishwick producing a fine swim in the 100m Backstroke. Sophia Hewlett of Bebington rounded off her successful campaign with personal bests in the 100m and 400m Freestyle. Club colleague Sam Scullion posted a personal best in the 100m Breaststroke, and Andrew Dobbing hit his best times of the year in the 200m Butterfly and 400m Individual Medley.
Other Notable Swimmers
Garston’s Alina Phillips posted personal bests in the 400m Freestyle and 400m Individual Medley, as did Bridgefield’s Emmy Rimmer in the 100m Breaststroke. Oliver Crosby of St Helens knocked almost five seconds off his previous fastest time in the 200m Backstroke, while Izzy Carter of Prescot posted career best times in the 100m Breaststroke and 100m Butterfly.
