Local Swimmers and Coach Selected for Euro Junior Champs

This week, we extend huge congratulations to three of our local swimmers and a head coach. Ethan Kelly from City of Liverpool and Wirral Metro's Abbie Roscoe have been selected to represent Britain at the upcoming European Junior Swimming Championships, taking place in Munich, Germany, from July 7-12. They will be joined by Wirral Metro coach Martin Brookes.

Freya Anderson Selected for Commonwealth Games

It is also congratulations to Hoylake's Freya Anderson, who will be part of the England team competing in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Micro League Action at Knowsley Leisure and Culture Park

There was Micro League action at Knowsley Leisure and Culture Park on Sunday. In Division A, just 18 points separated Southport, Halton, and Everton. Tyler Byrne and Aubrey Sephton each claimed two wins for 4th-placed Southport, with Isabel Deakin, Thea Robinson, and Sophia Leddy as their major points scorers. Anthony Wawrzyniak stood out for Halton, supported by strong performances from Orla Quinn-Riley, Elinor Moore, and Elliot Purslow. Dylan Harte led the Everton team, along with James Grant and Isaac Parry, while Marcus Cheung and Anthony Welsh made telling contributions.

Division B Highlights

In Division B, a great performance from Prescot gave them second place. Zackary Warburton followed in the footsteps of his parents, achieving two wins and two second places. Orlaith Kays, William Bennett, and Jarvis Wong helped the team finish just ahead of Bridgefield, for whom Amy Horsfield, Lucas Sharratt, Mason Pollock, and Oliver Simber had strong races. Garston had a number of newcomers, including Freddie White, Hugo Myers, and Florence Hardy, and will be well pleased with their performance.

Division C Victory for Ormskirk

Ormskirk took first place in Division C. In a good all-round team performance, Lowenna Millbanks, Amira Salka, Elizabeth Kearsey, and Isabelle Swift ensured a comprehensive win. Ira Moore, Archie McKenna, and Lucy Zygon were the pick of a good team effort from Bootle and North Liverpool.

Spring Mile Event at Delph Watersports Centre

There was outdoor action at the Delph Watersports Centre with the Spring Mile event. The water temperature of 14.2 degrees Celsius was appreciated by a mixture of seasoned campaigners and newcomers. The Men's Freestyle event was won by Josh Van Der Linde, with Jonny Wignall in second and Josh's father Ton Van Der Linde in third. Jacqui Jordan claimed the Women's Breaststroke event ahead of Elaine Sawyer, with Clare Sutcliffe in third. The largest category in numerical terms was the Women's Freestyle event, which saw Nicole Hunt finish just ahead of Ashleigh Gray in second place, followed by Niamh O'Connor.
