The City of Manchester Meet over the weekend provided great competition in preparation for the Summer Nationals. Albion Dobrushi and Ethan Dwyer led the City of Liverpool team, both picking up three golds and a silver. Finlay Byrne was in great form, his two golds, one silver and two bronzes included a number of personal bests, with Sophie Dowding finishing the weekend with two golds and two bronze.
There was a gold for George Dixon and Kate Roberts in the 1500m Freestyle, Myles Best and Thomas Rickels in the 200m Butterfly, Eric Bao and Oscar Donnelly in the 200m Breaststroke and Lucas Ellis-Sixsmith in the 800m Freestyle. Dylan Gregory set two personal bests, his best when taking silver in the 200m Backstroke and two personal bests by Logan Byrne highlighted with a bronze medal in the 200m Breaststroke, whilst in the 1500m Freestyle there was a silver for Martha Baxter and a bronze for Flynn Robinson, both setting personal bests. Sophie Lutas took silver in the 50m Backstroke.
Three personal bests by William Stamper helped him pick up gold in the 400m Freestyle and silver in the 800m Freestyle. The Butterfly saw Poppy Read take a gold and a silver with Dominic Workman doing likewise in the Freestyle and Daisy D’Arcy in the Backstroke. James Graham, Kerry Hennie, Callum Byrne, Sofia Davies and Thomas Ball were among a number of other medal winners.
Ava Lewis led the Wirral Metro team, as 5 personal bests saw her pick up a gold, silver and bronze in the Butterfly events. Vivien Wilkinson took home a gold and two bronze with Bethan James helping herself to gold in the 400m Freestyle and silver in the 200m Backstroke, both in personal best times. There were two silvers for Ben Stephenson and a silver and two bronze for Harper Aspinall, with Ava Halliwell and Lauren Berry both ending the weekend with a silver and bronze. In the 200m Butterfly Petra Varga took gold with Ellie Jackson taking the bronze, whilst Lily Horton touched third in the 50m Backstroke.
Southport’s Sadie Lamb took gold in the 400m Individual Medley and silver in the 400m Freestyle. Luke Kershaw claimed bronze in the 100m and 200m Backstroke with Molly Conning taking bronze in the 50m Breaststroke.
A personal best saw Ella Hewett of Prescot strike gold in the 50m Butterfly.
Saturday saw City of Liverpool’s Kate Roberts take gold in the 800m Freestyle and 200m Backstroke at the City of Derby Meet, with club colleague Ella Lambert taking gold in the 400m Freestyle and Thomas Ball pick up three silvers.
St Helens targeted the Trafford Borough Meet where Daisy Chisnall was in great form, claiming five golds and a silver. Rose Terry picked up two golds, a silver and a bronze, with Harry Glover collecting two golds and a bronze. Izzy Wainwright, Ellison Chahal, Max Willetts and Edith Keeley-Goose along with Freya Ashton, Noah Langley, Sofia Bagdonavicius and Miles Hughes were their other medal winners, with the Girls taking gold in the 4x50m Medley Relay.
