Three boxers from the FK Fox Boxing gym in Featherstone have returned victorious from recent Yorkshire shows, securing a title win, a debut victory, and a first senior bout triumph under the guidance of coach Graham Brierley.
Bailey Willis Adds Light Middleweight Title
Mechanical engineer Bailey Willis, 23, from Pontefract, claimed the light middleweight belt at the WF Promotions show in Barnsley. This follows his middleweight title win in Leeds in April. Willis described the bout as unusual, with his opponent being disqualified in the second round for not respecting the rules. "I know I was winning as I kept up the pressure and got in some good shots," he said. "Two tile belts on two successive shows two months apart. I’m buzzing, obviously."
Jensen Connolly Wins Debut
Jensen Connolly, 17, an apprentice engineer, stepped up for his debut at 70kg on just two weeks' notice at a show in Skipton. He dominated the fast-paced bout, using his jab to both head and body. "I outboxed my opponent. It’s about showcasing skills and I’ve learnt to deceive by feinting, and it worked out well," Connolly said. "Boxing is my future. I’m buzzing about it."
Alfie Hunter Secures First Senior Win
Apprentice electrician Alfie Hunter, 18, won his first senior bout with a strong middleweight performance in Barnsley, overcoming an experienced opponent from Leeds. "I kept him on the back foot and stayed sharp, avoiding what he threw at me. I’ve proved I belong in the ring," Hunter said. He expressed pride in representing FK Fox Boxing and thanked his sponsors Collab Commercial Interiors and RK Electrical for his fight shorts.
Upcoming Fights
The fighters are now preparing for summer and autumn fixtures. Jensen Connolly will return to the ring on Saturday, July 11 in Leeds.
