Ware Joggers, a local running club based in Hertfordshire, is celebrating a successful outing at the county relay event held at Fairlands Valley Park. The club fielded 16 teams, comprising 64 members, who joined 580 runners to complete the challenging three-kilometre course under humid conditions. The event was part of the Hertfordshire AARC Senior and Veteran Championships, where the club secured three top honours.
Event Overview
Head coach Sharon Threlfall guided the runners through the demanding route, which tested endurance and speed. The senior men's team finished sixth overall with a combined time of 39 minutes and 34 seconds, demonstrating strong team cohesion. Men's captain Michael Waddington emerged as the fastest runner for the club, recording an impressive individual leg of nine minutes and 14 seconds—the second-fastest time of the entire event. Teammates Harry Kutner and Vincent Riviere also delivered outstanding performances, completing their legs in under 10 minutes.
Medal Winners
Three teams from Ware Joggers earned medals in the championships. The veteran mixed team of Anthea Francis, Neil Bull, Jemina Punni, and Jamie Higgs secured gold. Silver medals went to the senior mixed team of Kevin Sambridge, Claire Teague, Kat Dobson, and Alex Chappell, as well as the veteran men's team comprising Nick Axam, Kevin Francis, Ian Perrins, and Vincent Riviere. These results highlight the depth of talent across different age groups and categories within the club.
