A man has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries following a collision between a bicycle and a car in Willenhall, West Midlands. The incident occurred on Crescent Road at approximately 4:21pm on Tuesday, July 21.
West Midlands Ambulance Service dispatched two ambulances and a Midlands Air Ambulance to the scene. An off-duty nurse was already providing care to the cyclist when emergency crews arrived.
Emergency response and treatment
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "Crews arrived to find a cyclist, a man, who had been involved in a collision with a car. An off duty nurse was caring for the man who was in a serious condition."
Paramedics administered advanced trauma care to stabilize the patient before he was airlifted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for further emergency treatment.
Police investigation
West Midlands Police have been approached for comment regarding the circumstances of the crash. No further details about the driver or the cause of the collision have been released at this time.
The road was closed while emergency services worked at the scene, but has since reopened.
