Lake District Ultra Challenge Returns This Weekend

One of the most scenic endurance events in the country is set to return to the area this weekend. More than 1,500 people will walk, jog, or run through the national park as the Lake District Ultra Challenge takes place on June 6, 2026 and June 7, 2026.

Event Details

Participants will tackle a variety of distances ranging from 10km up to a full 100km loop through the dramatic mountain scenery and lakeside trails. The route will start and finish in Kendal, taking in famous local landmarks including the Garburn Pass, Ambleside and the edge of Lake Windermere.

Inclusivity and Charity

The event is open to all abilities, with options to complete the challenge solo or as part of a team. Many participants will be raising vital funds for a wide range of national and local charities over the weekend. The popular event is known for generating massive support for good causes, having raised £750,000 for charity last year.

Safety and Support

Organisers will provide rest stops, medical teams and fully marked routes to ensure a safe environment for everyone along the course. A vibrant event village will also be set up in Kendal to welcome both the participants and their supporters.
