Elderly Cyclist Receives Care After Birmingham Collision

An octogenarian cyclist sustained injuries following a collision with a car in the Moseley area of Birmingham. The incident occurred at the junction of Yardley Wood Road and Chinn Brook Road shortly after 10am on Sunday, November 23.

Emergency Response and On-Scene Care

West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed they were dispatched to the scene at 10.09am after reports of a road traffic collision. Upon arrival, crews discovered a car and a bicycle had been involved. A spokesperson stated, "We sent an ambulance to the scene."

Witnesses reported that the cyclist, a man in his 80s, received immediate assistance from a member of the public. An off-duty nurse provided crucial initial care to the gentleman before the arrival of emergency services.

Hospital Transfer and Police Investigation

The cyclist was treated for injuries that were not believed to be serious at the scene. He was subsequently conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further assessment and treatment as a precautionary measure.

West Midlands Police cordoned off the area to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision. An onlooker described the scene, noting, "I went past when it was all taped off by police. There was also a blue car in middle where tape was."
