Birmingham City's Alex Cochrane says the squad's experiences this Championship season will make them stronger. After a tough campaign, Blues have rallied with three wins in their last four games, securing a top-half finish. A point at Portsmouth on the final day would give them their best tally since 2011/12 under Chris Hughton.
Despite high expectations from owners and fans following a big summer, Cochrane admits the season was a learning curve. "It's been a learning curve for everyone," he said. "There's a lot of players in their first Championship season and there was a lot of outside noise about expectations, but for us it was about putting on a performance every week."
The left-back, a key figure in Blues' League One title win, has been sidelined since New Year's Day with an ankle injury, making only two substitute appearances. The lay-off gave him time to reflect. "It gave me time to reflect on the season so far," Cochrane explained. "I've been lucky to play a lot of games in the past 18 months. I'm feeling good and strong now. I looked back on the start, getting used to Championship football, and where I can improve. It's been a learning curve for me too, and I'm looking forward to next season."
