Zion Suzuki and Nicolas Jackson both made their Villa debuts, with Suzuki starting in goal and Jackson leading the line after his registration was completed before Friday's midday deadline. The first half saw few clear-cut chances, though Suzuki was called into action when Declan Rice headed towards goal, with the effort ruled out due to a foul. Zion Suzuki - 6: Made his Villa debut, tipping Rice's header over the bar in the 26th minute, though a foul had already been given. Showed excellent distribution with both feet and made an encouraging first appearance. Split Kai Havertz's shot in the 75th minute but recovered.
Matty Cash - 7: Blocked a Tzolis cross in the 17th minute before getting the winger booked in the 30th, winning the ball and being tugged back. Celebrated his tackles in front of the fans and was outstanding.
Victor Lindelof - 7: Defended well against Kai Havertz in the 51st minute, climbing highest to win the first contact from an Arsenal cross. Played well again.
Pau Torres - 6: After a poor display against Brighton, Torres gave the ball away inside his own box early on, though Villa were let off. Found his passing range afterwards.
Ian Maatsen - 6: Put in a strong tackle on Saka in the 10th minute, bent an effort wide with his weaker right foot in the 27th minute, and was a constant threat on the overlap. Beaten by Saka for the goal but was an effective outlet in both halves, with an excellent tackle late on.

Boubacar Kamara - 6: First match at Villa Park since the start of January. Covered the pitch well and put a foot in when needed.
Ross Barkley - 6: Knitted play together nicely in advanced positions but gave the ball away in the middle of the park in the second half, leading to Arsenal pressure.
John McGinn - 6: Had the first effort of the game, pinging his shot into the empty North Stand structure. Used his body well to turn out of pressure but came up against a top performer in Calafiori.
Emi Buendia - 7: Came closest to scoring in the first half when he smacked the crossbar in the 12th minute. Worked his socks off and combined well throughout.
George Hemmings - 6: Applied high pressure, winning the ball back from Ben White early in the first half. Raced forward in the 30th minute and put the ball across the box, but Raya saved. Picked up dangerous positions throughout.
Nicolas Jackson - 6: Saw little of the ball in the first half but raced clear down the right after winning possession back, flashing the ball across goal with Hemmings unable to get there.
