It is understood that the appearance-based trigger, which would require Aston Villa to buy Elliott permanently, is limited to Premier League games only. This condition was reportedly part of the original deal from the outset, rather than a result of renegotiations between the two clubs.
Unai Emery, Aston Villa's manager, hinted at this aspect during his Friday press conference, confirming the structure of the agreement. Elliott has made just seven appearances across all competitions this season, including a start in Villa's final Europa League league phase match against RB Salzburg.

Complicating matters, the 22-year-old midfielder is now dealing with an injury issue that could sideline him for approximately two weeks. Emery addressed the situation, stating, "He is injured now. He is not available because of injury."
