Former West Brom Manager Bryan Robson Expresses Confidence in Survival Chances
Former West Brom Albion manager Bryan Robson has publicly backed the club to avoid relegation this season, while also offering strong support for interim boss James Morrison. Robson, a legendary figure at Albion, shared his insights in a recent interview, highlighting the team's recent form and potential.
Robson's Endorsement for James Morrison's Future
Robson emphasized that if Morrison can guide West Brom to safety, he should be seriously considered for the permanent managerial position. "James Morrison, I think he's definitely going to be in the conversation if he keeps them up, definitely," Robson stated. This endorsement comes as Albion faces a critical period with four games remaining in the season.
West Brom's Current Situation and Challenges
Despite being seven games unbeaten, West Brom remains deeply embroiled in the relegation battle. The situation has been further complicated by a potential points deduction due to financial rule breaches, with a decision pending. Robson, who masterminded the club's famous Great Escape in 2005, drew parallels to past survival efforts. "No side bottom at Christmas had survived but Robson and Albion bucked the trend," he recalled, underscoring his experience in such high-pressure scenarios.
Robson's Personal Connection and Optimism
Having spent ten years at West Brom as both a player and manager, Robson expressed deep affection for the club. He noted the resurgence in player confidence, attributing it to recent positive results. "It looks like the confidence is back in the players, which is why they've had a couple of good results lately," he said. Robson remains optimistic about Albion's prospects, citing their strong fan base and historical resilience. "The last thing I'd want to see is them going down, which I don't think they will," he added, reinforcing his belief in their survival.
