Wolves' Hugo Bueno: 'Giving Up Is Not an Option' After Relegation
Bueno: Giving Up Not an Option for Relegated Wolves

Hugo Bueno has insisted that giving up is not an option for already relegated Wolves as they prepare for the final stretch of the season. The club has now suffered three consecutive defeats, with relegation to the Championship already confirmed, leading to frustration among fans over recent performances.

Following the loss to Tottenham at Molineux, Bueno made it clear that the team cannot end the season without a fight. He stated: "After the two tough games we played a couple weeks before, to come here and see the stadium full, you know you have to give everything for the fans, for the club, for all of us. It's hard at the moment but the thing that we are never going to do is just give up. That's not an option. We have four more games to go and get the best results possible."

Bueno acknowledged that there are difficult days but emphasised that surrendering is not in his mindset. He said: "Of course, you have some bad days but for me it's not an option (to give up). Sometimes you can wake up without the energy you want, but the first time I put this shirt on, put my training kit on, you give everything. I try to do my best and then the next thing the next day, it's just how I am, how I feel and hopefully I can keep going like this."

Building for the Championship

Despite the recent struggles and relegation, Bueno believes Wolves are 'building something' under head coach Rob Edwards as they look ahead to life in the Championship. He added: "We are building something. Of course, it is hard with all the atmosphere, environment, the situation, it's not easy but we are training well. Every day we wake up and try to be better. Of course, the results are not coming. I think on Saturday we showed a better face of us, and we have to keep going like this, but for sure we're building something."

Reflecting on the match against Tottenham, Bueno noted: "Of course it is tough to take again because I think the lads did a really good job. It was a great effort and it was a fight – we knew the intensity was going to be really high because they had to win. Basically, they are in a really hard moment as well, so I think we matched that. We did our best, but we always missed the final third pass and at the end if you don't score, you don't get results."
