Former Birmingham City midfielder Odin Bailey is being targeted by Sheffield Wednesday following their relegation to League One. The 26-year-old is a free agent after leaving Stockport County, who lost in the League One play-off final, at the end of his contract.
Bailey enjoyed a strong season with six goals and six assists in 57 appearances across all competitions and is attracting plenty of interest. According to The Star, Sheffield Wednesday are considering him as part of their rebuild in League One ahead of the transfer window opening next week.
Sheffield Wednesday's new era
Sheffield Wednesday were bought by American businessman David Storch and his consortium at the end of last season after a troublesome 12 months. They are now looking to bounce back to the Championship at the first attempt.
Bailey's journey since leaving Blues
Bailey has climbed the EFL ladder since leaving Birmingham City permanently in 2022. He initially joined Salford City before finding form with Stockport County and helping them earn promotion to League One in 2024. Bailey has been part of a Stockport side that has finished inside the League One play-offs in each of the last two seasons.
Blues supporters will remember him best for a late winner against Middlesbrough in 2019 in a game lit up by a 16-year-old Jude Bellingham. Bailey made eight first team appearances for Blues in total after climbing through the club's academy to reach the senior set-up.
