Gabby Agbonlahor to Headline Gosta Green Pub Reopening for World Cup
Gabby Agbonlahor Headlines Gosta Green Reopening

Former Aston Villa and England striker Gabby Agbonlahor will headline the reopening of the Gosta Green pub ahead of the Three Lions' involvement in the World Cup next week.

The popular city centre venue, located in the heart of the Aston University campus, is opening back up under new independent ownership. To mark the launch, the pub is hosting an exclusive ticketed event on Tuesday, June 16, where Agbonlahor will be joined by talkSPORT broadcaster and pundit Dan Bardell.

The evening will feature a live Q&A session, giving fans the opportunity to hear stories from Agbonlahor's playing career and discuss England's tournament prospects on the world stage. England kick off their World Cup 2026 campaign in Arlington, Texas, the following evening with a Group L fixture against Croatia.

Gosta Green bosses reckon the revamped venue will be the perfect place to watch Thomas Tuchel's bid to end 60 years of hurt for the men's national team. The pub has undergone a refresh and repaint under its new owners, building on a major refurbishment carried out 18 months ago. Management aims to re-establish the pub as a go-to spot for live sport, student nights, and community events throughout the year, including the return of its popular karaoke nights.

A spokesperson for Gosta Green said: "We're delighted to be bringing Gosta Green back to life and couldn't think of a better time to reopen than on the day of England's opening World Cup match. The pub has always been a special venue for Birmingham and we're excited to welcome both old and new customers through the doors."

Following the launch event, fans can watch the World Cup matches across multiple indoor and outdoor screens, including a spacious beer garden. A new giant outdoor screen is being installed above a street food container so customers can get food without missing the action, alongside an indoor menu available throughout the tournament.

Organisers expect high demand for the Agbonlahor event, and tickets are available now with limited availability. For updates, follow Gosta Green on social media.
