Erling Haaland has traded his 'beautiful' long locks for a military-style buzz cut ahead of the new season, and Manchester City teammate Jack Grealish could not contain his laughter during a video call to see the new look.
The Norwegian striker documented the full transformation on his YouTube channel, admitting he felt 'nervous' before the clippers came out. Haaland explained his decision, saying: "This beautiful blonde hair, time to let it go. I was thinking about doing it straight after the World Cup but I was so busy, so I didn't do it. Season starts now, so it's time to get a fresh start. I'm a bit nervous. I want a buzz cut, like I've been in the military, I want to go really short."
Grealish's Reaction to the New Look
As the barber worked, Haaland compared himself to Kevin McCallister, the character Macauley Culkin played in the film Home Alone, but as more hair fell away he decided he looked more like 'the baby assassin'. Once the cut was complete, Haaland grabbed his phone and video called Grealish, who immediately burst out laughing.
Grealish, a former Aston Villa player, told Haaland: "Nah, you look about 10 years old. I can't stop looking at the front of your head, I swear." Despite the teasing, Grealish declared he "loved it" before ending the call.
Noel Gallagher Also Weighs In
Haaland also shared the new hairstyle with Oasis star Noel Gallagher, who had a similar reaction. Gallagher laughed and said: "Mate, you look about 17-years-old. Change is good, I won't tell anyone."
Haaland later posted pictures of the process on his Instagram page with the caption 'short hair, don't care'. The post drew a response from Jude Bellingham, who replied "No way," while many other followers simply quoted Haaland's social media catchphrase and wrote "Nice".
The striker's new look marks a fresh start as Manchester City prepare for the upcoming campaign, with teammates and celebrities alike reacting to the dramatic change.
