Nicolas Jackson is undergoing his medical at Aston Villa today, according to multiple reports including Sky Sports News, as the Chelsea forward closes in on a move to Villa Park.
The 23-year-old is expected to complete the transfer after Villa agreed a £65 million deal, a figure that would immediately break the club's own transfer record. That record currently stands at the £50 million Villa paid Freiburg for Johan Manzambi.
Seventh signing and Emery reunion
Jackson would become Villa's seventh signing of the summer transfer window. The move would also see him reunited with Unai Emery, under whom he previously worked at Villarreal.
The transfer comes amid a period of significant change at Villa, with striker Ollie Watkins reportedly set to move to Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal. Villa have been linked with alternatives including Crystal Palace's Jean-Philippe Mateta and Bayer Leverkusen's Christian Kofane, while they are also believed to be close to signing AC Milan winger Rafeal Leao.
Jackson's Chelsea and Bayern record
Jackson joined Chelsea from Villarreal in 2023 on an eight-year contract for a reported £32 million. During his time at Stamford Bridge, he has scored 30 goals in 81 appearances for the Blues. Last season he spent on loan at Bayern Munich, where he won the Bundesliga title and scored 11 goals in 34 games.
Villa are also in talks with Ipswich Town over a loan move for Tammy Abraham. The club's supporters are being asked for their views on the proposed Jackson transfer.
