Paul Lambert: Jack Grealish's Aston Villa Return Wouldn't Surprise Me
Lambert: Grealish Villa Return No Surprise

Paul Lambert has shared his thoughts on the futures of Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers and Manchester City's Jack Grealish, insisting he would not be surprised to see Grealish return to Villa Park.

The 30-year-old Grealish is currently recovering from an injury that ended his season on loan from Manchester City to Everton. He has one year left on the contract he signed when he joined City from Villa for a record £100 million in 2021.

Everton are keen to bring him back permanently, but with Pep Guardiola leaving City, Grealish's situation could change. His name is expected to feature prominently in summer transfer discussions, with many suggesting a return to Villa Park.

Lambert, who managed Villa during Randy Lerner's ownership, believes Grealish's affection for the club could influence his decision. "Nothing really surprises me in football," Lambert told Betway. "Jack going back there could be a really good fit, or he wipes his slate clean at Man City and goes again with them. There's no doubting his talent, but injuries are a concern. He's not getting any younger, but Villa is his club. Jack will decide where he wants to play, but first he must get fit again."

Lambert also praised Morgan Rogers, 23, who has attracted interest from Chelsea and Manchester United. With Villa managing UEFA's financial restrictions, a big offer for Rogers could be tempting. "He's been excellent, but a lot depends on what Rogers thinks. If a massive offer comes in, it's hard to turn down because it could fund three or four new players. The manager has handled it brilliantly, and Rogers keeps performing at a high level. If he stays grounded, he has a huge chance."
