Soccer Aid Star Maisie Adam's Wedding Hours Before Match and Surprising Confession
Maisie Adam's Wedding Just Before Soccer Aid Match

Comedian Maisie Adam is set to return to Soccer Aid 2026 tonight, and the event carries extra special significance for her this year. The stand-up comedian, known for appearances on 8 Out of 10 Cats, Mock the Week, and QI, previously revealed she tied the knot just 48 hours before her Soccer Aid debut in June 2023.

Maisie married Michael Dobinson in Brighton on the day before stepping onto the pitch at Manchester United's Old Trafford for the charity match. The 32-year-old Yorkshire-born star admitted she was more nervous for the football than her wedding. She told ITV's Soccer Aid for UNICEF: "I've watched this as a fan for years and it's genuinely an honour to finally be part of it. I've been more nervous for this than I was the wedding."

Wedding Details and Social Media

Maisie shared her wedding news on Instagram with a carousel of images from the Brighton ceremony, including a photo on the seafront by the old pier, a shot of the newlyweds being showered in confetti, and a picture of the couple seated on deckchairs with Maisie holding her bouquet aloft. The caption read: "We did it." Fellow stars including Katherine Ryan, Suzi Ruffell, Jamie Redknapp, and Izzy Christiansen congratulated the pair.

A Surreal 48 Hours

Maisie explained to The Express: "It was the day after my wedding, so I was hungover. For Soccer Aid, you go to the training camp on Thursday, Friday and Saturday - and I had to leave on Saturday to go get married! We got married in Brighton and then the next day, at 10 o'clock in the morning, a car comes to take you to Old Trafford. It was just such a surreal 48 hours because I got married and then was finding myself on a bus sat next to Nani and across from Roberto Carlos and then on the other side there was Lee Mack. I just thought, 'How have I ended up here?'"

Soccer Aid 2026

Maisie will be marking her third wedding anniversary next month, but tonight she will once again display her footwork as she joins the Celebrities to face England. The match takes place at the London Stadium, with kick-off at 6.30pm BST. It will be broadcast on ITV and ITVX for those without tickets. Stars participating this year include Lioness Jill Scott, Jermain Defoe, Jack Wilshere, Danny Dyer, Tom Hiddleston, and Netflix's Adolescence star Owen Cooper, who at 16 becomes Soccer Aid's youngest ever player.
