James Morrison hails Callum Styles as 'a dream' after double award win
Morrison: Styles is a 'dream' after double award

Callum Styles has been a shining light in a dark season for West Bromwich Albion, and his efforts have been recognised with two major end-of-season awards. The 26-year-old full-back, who joined the Baggies from Barnsley in 2024, has become a regular fixture in the side and a firm favourite among supporters.

Double award success

Before Albion's clash with Ipswich Town, Styles was presented with both the Player of the Year and Supporters' Player of the Year awards by club legend Tony 'Bomber' Brown. The double accolade underlines his consistency and importance to the team during a challenging campaign.

High praise from Morrison

Head coach James Morrison has heaped praise on the Hungary international, describing him as a 'dream' for any coach. Morrison highlighted Styles' versatility, work rate, and reliability as key attributes.

“He’s Mr consistent really,” Morrison said. “He has filled into midfield when we needed him, and he’s an international playing in midfield for Hungary. Every day he is a coach's dream, up and down the left wing with great tenacity in tackles, one v one defending. He’s there every week, he never gets injured.”

The Albion boss also noted Styles' positive contributions off the pitch, including the birth of his new baby, and insisted there is still room for improvement. “Even in the tough times he keeps going and that is what you want from everyone. You get judged on the tough times and how you come out of them, and he certainly has. I think he can still improve and get better.”

Versatility and trust

Morrison emphasised the value of Styles' ability to play in multiple positions, having also featured in midfield for both club and country. “It is always good that you can play a few different positions. He found it tough at Blackburn having to do that graveyard shift up and down on the wing, and he probably realised Isaac Price doing a lot of work for him. Around the place he is a top man, he works, gets up and does his job. You don’t really have to say too much to him, I trust him 100 per cent.”
