Corberán, who spent time in the region as a player and coach, admitted that the match at St James’ Park will be special. “It’s a special game for me because my family is from there,” he said. “My mum still lives there, and she’ll be cooking for me after the match.” The 41-year-old’s ties to the North East run deep, having previously worked as a coach at Newcastle’s academy under Rafael Benítez.
