The Premier League has officially announced the dates for the two transfer windows in the 2026-27 season, a decision that directly affects Aston Villa and their manager Unai Emery.
Transfer Window Dates Confirmed
The summer transfer window will open on Monday, June 15, and close at 11pm on Tuesday, September 1. The January transfer window will run from Friday, January 1 to 11pm on Monday, February 1.
Emery's Plans for Squad Strengthening
Unai Emery is eager to enhance his Aston Villa squad this summer as he looks to build on an impressive campaign at Villa Park. Having already secured the Europa League title, Villa could clinch fourth place in the Premier League with a victory against Manchester City on the final day of the season on Sunday.
Speaking ahead of the match at the Etihad, Emery emphasised his desire to “improve and get better next year” as the club prepares for Champions League football. The Spaniard also addressed the futures of loan players Jadon Sancho and Douglas Luiz, stating that no decisions have been made yet.
Loan Duo's Future Uncertain
Sancho is set to become a free agent this summer, while Villa have an option to sign Luiz permanently from Juventus. When asked if the club had decided on the two players, Emery replied: “Not yet. Now we are finishing the season. We will reflect and analyse each situation. We will decide it, but not yet.”
He added: “I am so, so proud of every player and how they have responded. Now is the moment after Sunday to take decisions, how we will continue building and getting our development strongly. We are ambitious and everything we did is important to how we can analyse how to get better next year. I only want to improve and get better next year. The decisions we take will be in this direction.”
