Rangers are expected to sign Aston Villa defender Kosta Nedeljkovic on loan with an obligation to buy. The deal is thought to be worth £4 million, with the obligation to buy triggered next summer if Nedeljkovic makes a certain number of appearances during his season-long loan, as per The Athletic.
Nedeljkovic's previous loan spells
The right-back has had two loan spells at RB Leipzig, with the Bundesliga club previously having options to buy him for around £10-12 million. However, Leipzig passed up the opportunity on both occasions.
Nedeljkovic joined Villa for £8 million in January 2024 but spent the remainder of the 2023/24 campaign on loan at Crvena zvezda. Then, after struggling for game time the following season, the defender embarked on his first loan spell at Leipzig in the second half of that campaign.
Limited appearances last season
Last season, he made just six appearances across all competitions, including five in the Bundesliga. Although a regular in Villa's pre-season this summer, Nedeljkovic was available for transfer during the window.
Villa's right-back situation
With Matty Cash set to be the only recognised right-back in Unai Emery's squad, Villa are trying to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka from West Ham United. Should Villa have kept Nedeljkovic? Tell us here.
