West Ham United Await Fitness Updates for Crucial Players Before Wolves Match

West Ham United and manager Nuno Espirito Santo are hopeful for positive fitness news as key players undergo late assessments ahead of their Premier League clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers on Friday. The Hammers have been grappling with a series of injuries in recent weeks, complicating their ongoing battle to avoid relegation from the top flight.

Following their elimination from the FA Cup last week against Leeds United, West Ham enter this match sitting just one point behind Tottenham Hotspur in the league standings. The team's injury woes have been a major topic of discussion, with former Wolves boss Nuno offering an update on the situation.

Injury Concerns and Late Fitness Tests

Nuno confirmed that several players are facing late fitness tests, including forward Crysencio Summerville, who has missed the last three games due to a calf injury. Defender Jean-Clair Todibo has also been sidelined for approximately two and a half weeks, while striker Callum Wilson is another undergoing a late assessment.

However, there is some encouraging news for the squad. Defender Dinos Mavropanos has been cleared of the concussion protocol, and full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka has returned to training. Goalkeeper Mads Hermansen is also set to be available for selection.

Manager's Optimistic Outlook

In a statement, Nuno expressed optimism about the recovery progress. "He's (Summerville) improving. Cry, JC and Callum Wilson are all improving, so we'll see. We still have tomorrow to assess, and we're positive that they can be available," he said.

He added, "Dinos is clear of the concussion protocol, which is good. Aaron [Wan-Bissaka] is back with us, and he's working well. A few of our players are recovering after Sunday, because it was a tough game that went to extra-time, but it mainly was just fatigue, so we're positive."

This match holds significant importance for West Ham as they aim to secure vital points in their fight against relegation. The return of key players could provide a much-needed boost against Wolves, who are also looking to strengthen their position in the league.
