Bedworth Eagles Fliers Football Club Receives £3,000 Boost from Persimmon Homes

A North Warwickshire football team has successfully secured significant funding from a national housebuilder, providing a major boost to its community-focused activities. Bedworth Eagles Fliers Football Club has received a generous £3,000 donation from Persimmon Homes Central, which will be used to strengthen the team's resources and development opportunities.

Team Background and Funding Details

The Bedworth Eagles Fliers, established in 2023, play their matches at St Michael’s Primary School and compete in the Nuneaton and Bedworth league. The funding comes from Persimmon Homes' Community Champions scheme, a quarterly initiative where each of their 29 regional businesses donates £6,000 to local causes.

Poppy, a parent at Bedworth Eagles Fliers Football Club, expressed her delight at the successful application. "We heard about the Persimmon Homes Community Champions scheme and decided to apply. We couldn’t believe it when we received the phone call to say we had been successful," she said. The team plans to use the funds for resources, enriching experiences, and development opportunities to build on their existing skills.

Official Presentation and Community Impact

The cheque was presented to the team by Ronan Woodbine, technical manager at Persimmon Homes Central. "What we do is much more than just building homes. Through our Community Champions Scheme, each of our 29 regional businesses donates £6,000 a quarter to local causes. I’m excited to support Bedworth Eagles as we know it’s going to make a big difference and wish them all the best for the remainder of the season," Woodbine commented.

Cllr Rob Roze from Nuneaton and Bedworth Council attended the presentation and praised the club's efforts. "Bedworth Eagles Fliers is a fantastic community club where coaches, volunteers and families put in the hours so our young people can enjoy football and stay active. Big thanks to everyone at Bedworth Eagles Fliers for what you do for children and young people across Bedworth. It really makes a genuine difference!" he said.

This funding injection is expected to significantly enhance the team's operations and provide better opportunities for young players in the area, reinforcing the importance of grassroots sports in community development.
