Chester FC Under-9s Achieve Remarkable Double Tournament Success
Chester FC's Under-9s team is celebrating an extraordinary run of form after clinching impressive victories in two major youth football tournaments. This remarkable achievement highlights the talent and dedication of the young players from Chester, Ellesmere Port, and North Wales.
Qualifying for the Prestigious International Cup
First, the team triumphed at the Pro Academy Qualifying Tournament held in Stevenage. This crucial victory secures them a coveted spot in the upcoming International Cup this May. In the semi-final, Chester defeated Wallsend Boys with a solid 2-0 scoreline, and they replicated that performance in the final against Solihull Academy, winning 2-0 again.
The International Cup will see Chester FC Under-9s compete against footballing giants, including Liverpool, PSV Eindhoven, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, and Arsenal. Additional top clubs are expected to be announced before the event commences. While professional academies such as Chelsea and Arsenal qualify automatically, Chester's semi-pro academy status required them to battle through the qualifying rounds, making their achievement even more commendable.
Securing the Manchester U9s Cup Title
The team's success did not end there. Just days later, they clinched the Manchester U9s Cup, a highly competitive tournament featuring top academy sides from across the North of England. In a valiant effort, Chester beat Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 in the semi-final before defeating Huddersfield 2-1 in the final to claim the title.
Details of the International Cup Event
The International Cup is scheduled to take place on May 23 and 24 at The Bobby Moore Sports Hub in Dagenham. Thirty-two teams will vie for supremacy in a fast-paced seven-aside format, with games lasting 20 minutes each. This format promises exciting and dynamic football action for all participants.
Meet the Squad and Coaching Staff
Chester's squad for these two tournament victories includes talented players such as Lewis Robertson, Ethan Molyneaux, Ralf Scheuber, Charlie Rigby, Joey Lowe, Bobby Thompson, Harry Stones, Freddie Brown, Harry Cowle, and Stanley Williams. The team is expertly coached by Stuart Scheuber and Mark Lowe, both of whom bring over 30 years of high-level playing experience and more than a decade of coaching young players and developing grassroots football.
Their extensive experience in the game has significantly shaped their coaching philosophy. They firmly believe that while natural talent is important, it is effort, attitude, and commitment that truly allow players to stand out and excel on the pitch.
