Ware Joggers have capped off a highly successful cross country season with a strong second-place finish in a fiercely competitive league. The club competed against notable rivals including Harlow Running and Tri Club, Saffron Striders, and Bishop’s Stortford Running Club, showcasing impressive teamwork and individual talent throughout the series.

Final Race Highlights and Individual Accolades

In the concluding event hosted by Saffron Striders, Ware Joggers delivered standout performances. The men’s team secured a first-place finish, while the women’s team achieved a commendable second place, underscoring the club’s depth and competitive edge.

Key Award Winners

Individual honours further highlighted the season’s achievements:

  • Timothy Brignall was named Man of the Series for his consistent excellence.
  • Debutant Harriet Cruickshank received the Lady of the Series award, marking a remarkable start to her cross country career.
  • Pamela Wilson earned the V65 award, celebrating her outstanding contributions in her age category.

Co-Captains Kevin and Anthea Francis praised the dedication and enthusiasm of all participants, noting that the competitive spirit and strong camaraderie were key factors in making the season so memorable and rewarding for everyone involved.

Launch of the 2026 Beginners’ Running Course

Building on this positive momentum, Ware Joggers are now opening entries for their 2026 Beginners’ Running Course. This initiative aims to welcome new runners from the local community and foster a love for the sport.

Course Details and Schedule

The 10-week course will commence on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 7.30pm at Wodson Park in Ware. It is designed to be inclusive and accessible for anyone over the age of 16, whether they are completely new to running, returning after a break, or simply seeking a confidence boost in their fitness journey.

Session Structure and Benefits

Sessions will involve gentle walk-run intervals to ease participants into running, along with weekly themes covering essential topics such as pacing, recovery, and motivation. The course fee is £60, which includes:

  1. Ten coach-led sessions to provide guidance and support.
  2. Ware Joggers membership valid until March 2027, offering ongoing club engagement.
  3. A running vest or top upon completion of the course as a token of achievement.
  4. Eligibility to participate in club events and activities.
  5. Discounted membership at Wodson Leisure Centre, adding extra value for participants.
