Preparations are in full swing for the Junior and Mini Great Birmingham Run, set to take place this Saturday, May 2, at Alexander Stadium in Perry Barr, Birmingham. The event will welcome young runners before thousands of adults participate in the main Great Birmingham Run on Sunday, May 3.
Event Details and Course Information
Doors open at 8am, with races commencing at 9am. Children aged three to eight will complete a 1.5km mini course, while juniors aged nine to 15 will tackle a longer 2.5km route. Organizers emphasize that the inclusive format is designed to promote fun, fitness, and confidence among younger participants.
Superhero Fancy Dress Encouraged
Young runners are encouraged to take part in superhero fancy dress for this popular annual event, adding an extra layer of excitement to the day.
Parking and Logistics
On-site parking will be available for attendees, with access via Church Road. Families are advised to plan ahead for arrival times due to expected congestion around the venue during peak morning hours.
Results and Photos
All participants will receive official finishing times and can access their results and event photographs after crossing the line in the AJ Bell-sponsored race. Photographer Jack Rogers captured images of runners already taking to the track ahead of the event as preparations continue.
Sold Out and Future Interest
With entries now fully sold out, organizers encourage those who missed out to register early interest for the 2027 event, as demand continues to grow year on year. The Junior and Mini Great Birmingham Run forms part of the wider Great Birmingham Run programme, which attracts thousands of runners across all age groups.
