Nightingale House Hospice Announces Return of Popular 5k & 10k Run at Alyn Waters
Nightingale House Hospice 5k & 10k Run Returns

The much-anticipated Nightingale House 5k & 10k Run is set to make a triumphant return to the picturesque Alyn Waters this spring, offering a fantastic opportunity for the community to come together for a vital cause. Sponsored by GHP Legal, the event will take place on Saturday, April 18, and promises to be a highlight in the local calendar, inviting participants of all abilities to enjoy a scenic, multi-terrain course while raising crucial funds for the hospice.

A Community Event for All Ages and Abilities

This inclusive event caters to a wide range of participants, with options for both a 5k and a 10k route, ensuring that everyone from seasoned runners to casual joggers can take part. For families looking to get involved, a children's 1km dash will also be available on the day, making it a perfect outing for community groups and individuals alike. The course itself is well-marked and fully marshalled, featuring varied terrain and gentle inclines that provide an enjoyable yet rewarding challenge for all.

Making a Real Difference Through Participation

Elise Jackson, the events and campaigns manager at Nightingale House Hospice, emphasised the profound impact of the event, stating: "The Nightingale House 5k & 10k is more than just a run; it's a chance for our community to unite, enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Alyn Waters, and make a tangible difference. Every stride taken and every pound raised directly supports the compassionate care we provide to patients and their families during their most challenging times."

Participants are encouraged to raise a minimum of £30 in sponsorship, with all funds going directly towards patient care at the hospice. By covering event costs through tiered entry fees—where early booking offers savings—the organisers ensure that sponsorship money is maximised for hospice services.

Inspiring Stories from Past Participants

The event has touched many lives, as illustrated by Nigel, a previous participant with a personal connection to Nightingale House. Having had relatives and friends cared for by the hospice, he found motivation in both improving his health and supporting others. Nigel shared: "In 2025, I set a goal to boost my fitness and booked the Nightingale House 5k, committing to raise funds so they can continue their amazing work. It's a powerful way to give back, especially since we never know when we or our loved ones might need their support."

He added: "Just go for it. You'll enhance your own health and fitness while contributing to a worthy cause—it's truly a win-win situation."

Event Details and Registration Information

To ensure a smooth experience, the run will feature chip-timed results provided on the day, offering accurate timings for all participants. Age restrictions apply: participants must be aged 11 and over for the 5k and 15 and over for the 10k, with the children's 1km dash available for on-the-day registration only.
