A short trip to Billinge for the Wigan Summer Sizzler proved highly successful for St Helens, who ended the day with a total of 25 medals. Hayden Battle led the charge with three gold medals, including a personal best in the 100m Individual Medley, along with a silver and two bronze medals, one of which was a personal best in the 50m Freestyle.
Outstanding Performances
Oliver Crosby achieved three personal bests while storming to gold in the 50m Backstroke, 100m Backstroke, and 50m Freestyle. Ellison Chahal, pictured below with Oliver Crosby, recorded five personal bests and collected four silver medals and a bronze. Daisy Chisnall was rewarded for her five personal bests with silver in the 100m Backstroke and bronze in the 100m Individual Medley.
Noah Langley set four personal bests, earning silver in the 50m Breaststroke and bronze in the 100m Breaststroke. Izzy Wainwright also achieved personal bests, taking silver in the 50m Breaststroke and bronze in the 100m Breaststroke. A bronze medal in the 100m Backstroke was just reward for one of three personal bests by Edith Keeley-Goose.
There were impressive debuts from Molly Hilton, who claimed silver in the 50m Breaststroke, and Neve Crosby. Seb Wade finished the day with a silver and two bronze medals, including two personal bests.
Halton and Prescot Success
Beth Macgugan stood out for Halton, claiming four gold medals with personal bests in the 100m Freestyle, 50m Backstroke, and 100m Individual Medley. Olivia Hyland and Tsz Yui Chui both ended the day with three golds and a silver. One of four personal bests gave Rose Purslow bronze in the 50m Freestyle.
Jacob Lupton of Prescot set personal bests when taking first place in the 100m Freestyle and second place in the 100m Individual Medley. He also took bronze in the 50m Butterfly. Ormskirk's Honey-Rose Pearce set a personal best in the 200m Freestyle.
British Long Distance Swimming Association Challenge
The British Long Distance Swimming Association One Hour Challenge was a huge success for Warrington Dolphins, with gold medals for Jess Burke, Emma Williams, Anita Dodd, and James Coy-Cox, while Andy Henderson claimed a silver. Bronze medals went to Andy Wright, Ellie Thomas, and Julie Trevor. In the 30-minute challenge, Alexandra Miron set a new distance record in the 30-34 Age Group, with Chris Carter and Kalliopi Rassi-Sinclair also taking golds. Jo Yellen and Karen Hodgkins picked up silvers, while bronze medals went to Dave Bowker, Sandra Wright, and Alison Wills.
Mark Jones of Warrington Masters took gold in both the 30-minute and One Hour Challenges, setting a new Age Group Record in the 30-minute challenge.
