Business partners Dan Jones and Ben Gray teamed up on the golf course to help their side win a long-running tournament. James Beckenham and Joe Brough completed the JAK Steel line-up which lifted the Mactex Trophy at Prestbury Golf Club.
38-Year Tournament Raises Over £200,000 for Hospice
The competition has been running for 38 years, raising well over £200,000 for East Cheshire Hospice. The steel suppliers are keen supporters of the charity. This year's event attracted 16 teams and raised £15,175, a total boosted by a raffle and auction run by Nick Bianchi and Georgina Devon.
Dan said: "I've lost a couple of close friends in the hospice. They've always been brilliant with us and we always help when we can."
Founder and Organisers Praise Community Support
John Davies, director of Mactex Properties Ltd, founded a competition regarded as the flagship charity event in the Prestbury golf season. Ex-professional Nigel Preston, whose company Interflex were main sponsors, helped organise the latest event.
Co-organiser Vicky Devon said: "John's dedication towards helping the Hospice over many years has been amazing. It costs £9,362 a day to keep its doors open and, helped by others, he's made it his mission to provide these much-needed funds. The organisers would like to thank those who made it another memorable event, including the prize donors. This event, led by John's inspiration, shows the depth of love and support within our community for the Hospice."
