Liverpool Swimmers Shine with National Qualifying Performances
Over the weekend, swimmers from the Liverpool region showcased their talent at various meets across the country, with several athletes achieving National Qualifying times and setting new personal bests.
Leeds Meet Highlights
In Leeds, Dylan Gregory of City of Liverpool made a significant breakthrough by dipping under the 18-minute mark for the first time in the 1500m Freestyle. He also delivered strong performances in the 100m and 400m Freestyle events.
Meanwhile, Habiba Jones from Bebington concluded a busy period, which included the Swim Wales National Championships, by posting fast times in the 50m and 200m Breaststroke.
Sunderland and Stourbridge Success
Further north in Sunderland, Eva Smith, also representing City of Liverpool, enhanced her National Qualifying prospects. She secured a silver medal in the 400m Individual Medley and earned a bronze in the 800m Freestyle, setting a personal best in the latter. Additionally, she achieved a new personal best in the 100m Freestyle.
At the Stourbridge meet, Ben Stephenson of Wirral Metro dominated with gold medals in the 100m and 200m Butterfly, as well as the 200m Individual Medley. He also set a personal best in the 400m Freestyle.
Winsford Meet Achievements
Formby swimmers targeted the Winsford Meet, where William Smith led the team with an impressive haul of six gold medals, including four personal bests, and one silver medal.
Jessica Cooper continued her excellent form, collecting five golds and three silvers. Ciara Garlock returned home with three golds, one silver, and two bronze medals.
Ewan Spencer-Willman posted four personal bests, highlighted by silver medals in the 50m Breaststroke and 100m Individual Medley. Sebastian Houghton achieved five personal bests, including a silver in the 200m Individual Medley and a bronze in the 50m Butterfly.
Jasmine Callaghan was in great form with six personal bests, and Lauren Peel made a promising debut. Additionally, Jacob Lupton of Prescot set a personal best while taking silver in the 50m Freestyle.
