Birmingham's Alison Hammond Shows Off Boxing Skills After 11 Stone Weight Loss
Birmingham television personality Alison Hammond has been demonstrating her boxing prowess in a recent workout video, pulling on gloves and working up a sweat as she continues her remarkable fitness transformation.
Five-Year Fitness Journey
The 51-year-old Brummie star has been on an extensive health journey over the last five years, during which she has successfully lost an impressive 11 stone. This achievement came through a complete overhaul of her diet and exercise regime, marking a significant lifestyle change for the popular presenter.
Alison, who co-hosts ITV's This Morning with Dermot O'Leary and presents The Great British Bake Off, regularly shares updates from her workouts on Instagram. Over the weekend, she posted a video showing her perfecting pad work with personal trainer Stu McCann, wearing a black t-shirt and sweatpants as she enthusiastically punched the pads.
Supportive Fan Reactions
The Instagram post was captioned "Yass @themccannic! Same time next week" and quickly attracted numerous supportive comments from followers. One fan wrote: "Your journey to get healthier is just inspiring. You're proof that in a world full of quick fixes, consistency and determination also works."
Another commenter named Wendy added: "Definitely the best way to keep fit, well done. I started pads when I turned 50, 3/4 times a week now, I'm hooked and the fittest I've ever been."
Additional messages included "Go on bab" and "You look amazing," while another follower noted: "This is incredible. I tried boxing with my PT once, omg it was so bloody hard. You made that looks so easy, keep going babes." Alison responded to this comment by describing the workout as "a killer."
Comprehensive Fitness Regime
According to reports, Alison's fitness routine extends beyond boxing to include circuit training and Reformer Pilates. She explained in an interview with Closer magazine that she took up Pilates because she could be "stiff as a board" and noted: "You feel absolutely incredible after it. I really need a good stretch - so Reformer Pilates has been brilliant for me."
The television star also participates in early-morning circuit classes with trainer Steve Hensel at Blue Zone, attending sessions at 6:30am for a full hour. She described this as "a proper old-school gym" experience that complements her overall fitness approach.
Health Transformation Motivation
Alison's health journey was initially sparked by the discovery that she was pre-diabetic, a condition she has since reversed through healthier food choices and consistent exercise. Despite her transformation, she maintains a balanced approach to eating, telling Heat magazine that she doesn't "deny herself anything" and follows the principle of eating everything in moderation.
This comprehensive approach to wellness has not only resulted in significant weight loss but has also inspired many of her followers with its emphasis on consistency and sustainable lifestyle changes rather than quick fixes.
