The Caerphilly Council's sport and leisure team has unveiled a comprehensive six-week summer programme packed with sports, swimming, and outdoor adventures for children and young people across the borough. The initiative aims to keep families active and healthy throughout the school holidays.
Swimming and Sports Camps
Local leisure centres will host inflatable pool sessions, family fun swims, and intensive swimming lesson crash courses. Families can also book onto summer football and athletics sports camps running throughout the holiday period. These activities are designed to cater to all ages and skill levels.
Free Tennis and Outdoor Adventures
Free coached tennis sessions are available every weekend at courts in Blackwood Showfields and Ystrad Mynach. For young adventurers, outdoor climbing wall sessions and dedicated adventure days take place every Monday and Tuesday. These opportunities provide a chance for children to try new activities in a safe environment.
Pop-Up Play Events
Free pop-up play events and park activity days will travel to various neighbourhoods, offering families free activities close to home. Most outdoor play sessions are open to everyone, but places for disability pop-up play must be booked in advance to ensure appropriate support.
Council Encouragement
Cllr Chris Morgan, cabinet member for Sport and Leisure, said: "We've got another fantastic programme of activities planned this summer, with something for everyone right across the borough. Whether you're trying something new or enjoying a favourite activity, we look forward to welcoming families throughout the holidays."
How to Book
Full timetables for all sessions are available through the council's dedicated leisure app. To view timetables and book places, download the Leisure Lifestyle app or follow local sport and leisure social media channels. The programme aims to encourage residents to stay active and make use of local facilities.
