Police have issued a significant update following a shocking pepper spray attack at Heathrow Airport this morning, which left 21 people requiring medical treatment, including a three-year-old girl.
Arrest Made After Morning Chaos
The Metropolitan Police were called to the airport shortly after 8am on Sunday, 7th December 2025, following reports of an assault in a multi-storey car park at Terminal 3. Officers confirmed that a 31-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and remains in custody.
Details of the Terminal 3 Assault
The force has now revealed that the incident began when a woman was robbed of her suitcase by a group of four men inside a car park lift. The assailants then sprayed a substance, believed to be pepper spray, in her direction.
The effects of the spray spread rapidly, impacting not only the victim but also other occupants of the lift and bystanders in the surrounding area. In total, 21 people were injured and received treatment. The three-year-old girl was treated at the scene, while five other casualties were taken to hospital. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.
Police Stress Incident is 'Isolated'
Met Police Commander Peter Stevens provided a statement on the ongoing investigation. "Our team have been working at pace today to review CCTV from the area and speak with witnesses at the scene," he said.
Commander Stevens reiterated the sequence of events, stating the attack appeared to be a targeted robbery. He sought to reassure the public, adding: "We do believe this to be an isolated incident with those directly involved known to each other."
He also commended the swift response of emergency services and Heathrow Airport staff. The police are urging anyone with information to come forward by calling 101 and quoting the reference CAD 1803 7 DEC.
