West Mercia Police have mocked a driver over what they called the 'most unusual parking attempt of the year' after a Kia came to rest at a 45-degree angle against another vehicle on High Street in Broseley, Shropshire. The collision occurred outside a busy pub, but nobody was injured, police confirmed.
The incident was shared by Bridgnorth Police on its Facebook page on Saturday night, August 29. Officers arrived to find the Kia wedged against another car, with the driver able to exit the vehicle unaided. Crews from Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service attended to make the scene safe.
Police joke about '3D parallel parking'
In a light-hearted statement, officers said: "On arrival, we were surprised to discover the driver had inadvertently demonstrated the rarely seen and highly advanced '3D parallel parking' manoeuvre." They added: "While we appreciate the effort to push the boundaries of conventional parking, we're advised that this particular technique is not currently recognised within the Highway Code."
The force noted that the driver was able to climb out of the vehicle unaided, and despite the dramatic final parking position, nobody was injured. "This was particularly fortunate given that the incident occurred directly outside a busy pub, where there were plenty of people on hand to witness what may well become Broseley's most unusual parking attempt of the year," the statement continued.
Emergency services respond and scene made safe
West Midlands Ambulance Service also attended to assist. Officers said the scene was made safe, the driver received a precautionary check-over, and the vehicle was later recovered. The force thanked members of the public for their patience while emergency services dealt with the incident.
Bridgnorth Police concluded with a playful remark: "There is only one thing left to say, and we all know what that is..."
