Jet2 Confirms Summer Flight Operations Unaffected by Fuel Concerns
Jet2, the UK's largest tour operator, has released a fresh statement regarding jet fuel availability for flights scheduled in June, July, and August. This update comes directly from the airline, which operates numerous services from Birmingham Airport, aiming to reassure passengers with summer holiday bookings.
Background of Global Fuel Supply Issues
The airline's announcement follows widespread reports indicating that some airlines and operators could face jet fuel shortages within the next six weeks. This precarious situation has escalated as the conflict in the Middle East nears the two-month mark, with ongoing tensions between Iran and the United States in the Gulf region impacting global supply chains.
Jet2's Reassuring Message to Holidaymakers
In a positive development for UK travelers, Jet2 has confirmed that all flights and holidays remain fully operational at this time. A spokesperson for the airline stated to BirminghamLive: "We remain in continual dialogue with our fuel suppliers, as is standard practice."
Based on these ongoing discussions, the airline sees no immediate threat to its scheduled programme, allowing customers to anticipate their summer getaways as planned. The spokesperson emphasized: "We understand that our customers work and save very hard for their holidays, and we are looking forward to making sure that they enjoy their award-winning Jet2holidays."
Recent Expansion and Future Plans
Earlier this week, Jet2—which competes with carriers like Easyjet, TUI, and Ryanair—announced an extension of its 2027 season to Nice from Manchester Airport, specifically for the MIPIM conference. Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, commented: "We are very pleased to be supporting the region by providing additional flights to Nice for this major conference and bringing forward the start date to this popular destination."
Heapy added that these extra flights will enable delegates to travel directly from Manchester on Jet2's award-winning services, expressing confidence in their success. This move not only supports local businesses but also marks an earlier commencement of the Summer 2027 season to Nice, offering holidaymakers from Manchester an extended opportunity to experience the French Riviera.
