Next 30C UK Heatwave Days Away as Weather Maps Turn Red

The end of the record-breaking June heatwave will bring cooler conditions from Sunday, offering relief to many. However, latest weather forecasts show it won't be long before temperatures start to climb again.

There will be some respite from the extreme heat this week as temperatures return to more comfortable levels closer to the expected average for the time of year. But things are set to warm up again from next Sunday, July 5.

Temperature Forecast for Early July

By Monday, July 6, the mercury is expected to climb to around 30C in London and the South East. The West Midlands is expected to see temperatures of around 27C that afternoon. It is also set to be warm on Sunday, July 5, with around 28C in London and 25C in the West Midlands.

Potential for Even Hotter Weather Later in July

According to the Met Office, that could be the precursor for even hotter weather to come later in July. Forecasters have warned that "hot conditions" above the expected average could hit in the second half of the month. This comes after June temperature records were smashed on three consecutive days this week.

Met Office Long-Range Forecast

The Met Office long-range forecast for July 12-26 states: "High pressure is looking slightly more likely than low pressure during the early part of this period, meaning a greater chance of settled and drier than average conditions. Outbreaks of rain and stronger winds are possible at times, these more likely further north. As normal for the time of year, there is still a chance of some heavy and thundery showers which may interrupt any warm and settled weather."

Towards the end of July, there is no reliable signal for preferring any one weather pattern over another. However, the Met Office adds: "Temperatures are likely to be above normal on the whole, with a greater than normal chance of hot conditions developing at times."
