EDF Offers £50 Credit to All Customers Switching to EV Tariffs in February
EDF £50 Credit for EV Tariff Sign-Ups in February

Energy supplier EDF has announced a generous incentive for customers looking to adopt electric vehicle (EV) tariffs, offering a complimentary £50 credit to both new and existing clients who sign up during February. This initiative is designed to support households in reducing their energy costs while embracing more sustainable transportation options.

Financial Boost for EV Tariff Adoption

The promotion applies to anyone who registers for one of EDF's EV tariffs by the 15th of February, with the £50 credit being applied directly to their EDF account within 30 days of successful enrolment. Rich Hughes, Director of Retail at EDF, emphasised the company's commitment to helping customers save money, stating, "We know customers are looking for ways to save money in the new year, so we're giving £50 credit to anyone who signs up to one of our EV tariffs by 15th February."

Key Features of EDF's EV Tariffs

EDF's range of EV tariffs includes options such as GoElectric, Pod Point EV Exclusive, Evolve, and Pod Point Plug & Power. These plans provide several benefits for households with electric vehicles:

  • Five hours of cheaper electricity every night between 12am and 5am for both home use and EV charging.
  • All electricity supplied is backed by 100 per cent zero-carbon sources, supporting environmental goals.
  • Compatibility with all electric vehicle makes and models, unlike some restrictive tariffs on the market.
  • Smart Charging functionality that extends off-peak rates beyond the standard overnight window, maximising savings.

Customers on the Evolve or GoElectric tariffs have the additional opportunity to bolt on an extra £5 per month, further enhancing the value of their energy plan.

Eligibility and Requirements

To qualify for an EDF EV tariff and receive the £50 credit, customers must meet specific criteria:

  1. Have a smart meter installed at their property.
  2. Be opted into half-hourly meter readings to facilitate accurate billing and tariff management.

This setup ensures that households can fully leverage the cheaper electricity periods and monitor their energy usage effectively.

Broader Benefits and Environmental Impact

By switching to an EDF EV tariff, customers not only gain financial advantages but also contribute to broader sustainability efforts. Hughes highlighted the dual benefits, noting, "Our EV tariffs make charging at home simpler and more affordable, with five hours of cheaper electricity every night, helping households cut their energy costs while they sleep."

He added, "By choosing an EDF EV tariff, customers can reduce their carbon footprint, take advantage of cleaner electricity, and play an active part in Britain's transition to a more electric, sustainable future – all while saving money." This aligns with increasing consumer interest in eco-friendly solutions that offer practical savings.

The promotion reflects EDF's strategy to encourage the adoption of electric vehicles and smart energy practices, positioning it as a supportive player in the UK's shift towards renewable energy and reduced emissions.
