Octopus Energy Announces Six Months Free EV Charging for Andersen Customers
Octopus Energy, in partnership with Andersen EV, has launched a generous incentive for electric vehicle drivers, offering six months of complimentary home charging. This initiative is available to customers who purchase a new Andersen EV charging device starting from March 1, 2026.
Substantial Savings and Mileage Benefits
According to data released by Octopus Energy, this offer translates to approximately 4,370 miles of free charging for electric vehicles. Financially, drivers can expect to save around £234 on their electricity costs during this six-month period, making it an attractive proposition for those looking to reduce their motoring expenses.
Enhanced Government Grants for EV Infrastructure
This announcement follows recent news that the UK government has increased chargepoint grant amounts by over 40%. This enhancement means that renters, flat owners, homeowners without driveways, and businesses can now save up to £500 when installing electric vehicle charge points. The move aims to make EV ownership more accessible and affordable across various housing situations.
Executive Insights on the Partnership
David Martell, CEO of Andersen EV, commented on the timing and impact of the offer, stating, "The March plate change remains one of the most significant moments in the UK motoring calendar, and this offer will help encourage more motorists to make the switch to electric for their next car." He emphasized that this initiative builds upon the existing partnership with Octopus Energy, which has already facilitated thousands of low-cost miles for EV drivers nationwide.
Richard Sephton, head of EV partnerships at Octopus Energy, highlighted the bundled benefits, saying, "By offering this as a bundled solution, EV drivers will unlock hundreds of pounds in annual savings that smart tariffs provide, delivering a premium charging experience that pays for itself."
Compatibility and Installation Details
The Intelligent Octopus Go tariff now seamlessly integrates with all Andersen Quartz models, all Andersen A3 models, and all Andersen A2 single-phase models sold since January 2024. Andersen ensures efficient service with products typically shipped within one to two days and installation lead times ranging from two to three weeks.
Political Support for EV Adoption
Labour Party Decarbonisation Minister Keir Mather recently underscored the government's commitment to electric vehicle affordability. He remarked, "We're taking action to make EV ownership the affordable choice for everyone - not just those with driveways." He further explained that the expanded grants enable families, flat owners, renters, and small businesses to install chargers at nearly half the usual cost, with home charging potentially costing as little as 2p per mile.
This combined effort from Octopus Energy, Andersen EV, and government initiatives represents a significant step forward in promoting sustainable transportation and reducing the financial barriers associated with electric vehicle ownership in the UK.
