A quick-thinking forklift driver in Birmingham took matters into his own hands when a parked car blocked a crucial delivery, using his industrial vehicle to simply lift the obstruction out of the way.
The scene on Studley Street
The incident unfolded on Studley Street in Sparkbrook, Birmingham, on the morning of 6 January 2026. A dark-coloured Volkswagen Tiguan SUV had been left parked in a no-parking zone, directly blocking the entrance to a business yard. This prevented a large delivery lorry from turning in to drop off its cargo.
An unconventional solution
Witness Ahmed Hussain, 28, from Haven Autocare, was providing a mobile service nearby when he saw the unusual scene. A worker from a neighbouring business, expecting the delivery, reportedly used a forklift truck to resolve the standoff.
"The owner wasn’t back for a while," Ahmed said. "It wasn’t blocking my business, but it was parked in a no-parking area. The forklift, I believe, was from a business that was expecting a delivery from the lorry."
The forklift operator carefully slid the forks under the SUV, lifted the entire vehicle, and transported it a short distance down the road. He then deposited it in another parking spot, clearing the access.
Delivery saved and a lesson in parking
The immediate consequence was that the waiting lorry could finally complete its delivery, which Ahmed believed contained food or clothing items for local shops. The event, captured on video, highlights the frustrations caused by illegal parking in busy urban areas.
Ahmed noted the car had likely been there since the early morning, causing a significant logistical headache. The unconventional removal method served as a stark reminder to drivers about the importance of obeying parking restrictions, especially near commercial entrances.
