A new £10 charge for motorhomes and campervans is being introduced at a popular UK tourist destination. Parking regulations at Port Solent have been updated following a rise in visitors staying overnight before catching the morning ferry from Portsmouth.
Changes to Overnight Parking
Drivers hoping to sleep over at Port Solent in motorhomes and campervans will now have to pay a £10 fee. A spokesperson for Port Solent explained: "Due to increased demand from vehicles seeking to join ferries departing from Portsmouth, we are introducing updated parking management measures at Port Solent to ensure fair and consistent use of our facilities for all visitors."
From Wednesday 13th May, overnight parking for motorhomes and campervans will be subject to a £10 charge per night. Stays are limited to a maximum of one night. The system will be managed by an independent parking operator using ANPR technology, alongside updated on-site signage to clearly communicate the terms of use.
Payment and Enforcement
Payment for parking will be via Ringo or booking in advance using Just Park. These changes reflect an increase in demand for parking, particularly from longer-stay vehicles. Visitors are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the new terms before arrival.
Under the new system, motorhomes and campervans will be charged £10 for overnight parking, with only one night permitted per stay. The measures aim to manage increased traffic from travellers seeking proximity to the ferry terminal.
