A man was shot dead on a busy street in Barcelona, a popular holiday destination for British tourists, in a brazen daylight attack. The victim was killed on Carrer de Balmes at approximately 10am local time (9am UK time) on Wednesday, June 10, 2026.
Details of the Incident
According to reports from The Mirror, the victim was struck by a single gunshot to the head. The suspect fled the scene immediately after the shooting. ElCaso.cat reports that the shooting occurred directly in front of the National Police's DNI office, which is responsible for issuing identity cards and passports.
Investigation Underway
The Catalan police, specifically agents from the Criminal Investigation Division (DIC), have taken charge of the investigation. Authorities have obtained images of the suspect and recovered a firearm from the crime scene. A law enforcement operation has been launched to apprehend the perpetrator.
