Pedestrian killed by lorry on A38, man arrested

A man has been arrested after a pedestrian tragically lost his life in a collision involving a heavy goods vehicle on the A38 in Worcestershire. The incident occurred at the Rashwood Junction to the M5 at Junction 5 Northbound, near Wychbold, at approximately 9.10pm on Thursday, May 7.

West Mercia Police confirmed that the pedestrian, a man in his 60s, sadly died at the scene. A 47-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and remains in custody, assisting with inquiries.

Road closure and investigation

The A38 Rashwood Junction remained closed overnight and is expected to reopen as soon as possible. Police are conducting a full investigation into the circumstances of the collision.

PC Rory Grint-Smith said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who has died following this collision. We are carrying out a full investigation to establish what has happened.”

Appeal for witnesses

Authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the collision or has information or dashcam footage to come forward. They are particularly keen to hear from anyone who saw the vehicle involved, described as a white MAN Tractor heavy goods vehicle with a green trailer.
